Summer's
Over
It
seems just like a movie
You see on DVD
Where you see the same scene over and over and over
With director commentary
I've seen this stuff so many times
I don't know what's real anymore
All I know is this he said:
Summer's over
The
turning leaves, the orange from greens
They should have been my clue
The birds that fly away from here
I wonder how they knew
An innocence that disappears
When the cold winds blow
The same old song it sings
Summer's over
I know
it's hard to picture now
Frozen in the earth
A million blades of grass await
Eventual rebirth
And the seasons turn as we contemplate
As if we didn't know...
And
a love burns from the ash of hate
Some fires never go
All I know is this he said:
Summer's coming home
